Position: UAS West Side Transition Academy Manager

Reports to: Executive Director/Clinical Manager

Founded in 2012, Urban Autism Solutions is dedicated to changing outcomes for young adults (approximately 17-35 years old) with autism through an integrated community life that advances social and vocational opportunities.

Job Summary:

Working closely with our Clinical Director, you will provide clinical services and manage the programs, logistics, and communication-related curriculum at the Urban Autism Solutions West Side Transition Academy (UAS Academy) located at 1220 W. Lexington Street, Chicago.

You will be responsible for working closely with our clinical team as well as local high school students, teachers, administrators, and parents (if applicable) and executing and facilitating exceptional community-based programs and experiences for our young adult transition students. Your day may also include assisting with Academy-related activities inside or outside the building in the community. You will be working to support young adults with success on the job as well as helping to coordinate and lead instructional modules. This is a twelve-month position that includes our summer agriculture program. Working with and managing apps such as Lyft and other databases used by the program will also be an important function of your job.

This position requires a high level of energy and will suit those who prefer a day of variety and multi-tasking. Applicants must be skilled with the Google platforms and will be trained to use our OTUS progress monitoring software. Compared to a traditional educational environment, we’ve minimized paperwork requirements.

Position responsibilities include:
 

Academy Management: Programs: approximately 20 hours/week

● Work closely with local CPS teachers, administrators, students, parents and staff to create rosters in OTUS and implement our well developed community-based programs

● Manage scheduling and weekly communications with CPS teachers and staff and UAS Academy staff

● When the Academy is not in session during holidays, breaks or during the summer, you will assist UAS in other tasks, such as planning and executing special events, summer programming, farm programs and staffing with UAS residents and clients and/or other duties as assigned

● Assist in obtaining new hire/volunteer paperwork such as CPS fingerprinting, IL Mandated Reporter forms, UAS Personnel Manual, etc. in conjunction with management

● Oversee the DHS CRP employment process which includes managing the required paperwork, state issued deadlines and reporting requirements

● Other tasks as assigned

Academy Management: Facilities

● Prepare and organize rooms at the end of each day, ensuring they are clean, all technology works, have adequate supplies, and are preset for optimal use

● Manage inventory, and supplies, and run reports; order supplies as approved

● Supervise the cleaning/cleaning teams ensuring all work is completed as assigned

● Participate in team meetings

● Proactively prevent issues from becoming problems

● Perform other administrative tasks and duties as assigned

Staff Clinician: approximately 12 hours per week

● Mid-August through May: Review intake documents and provide assessment and intervention activities around documented goal areas during individual and small group lessons

● Accompany or lead clients in small groups through community integration activities for functional use of communication, ADLs and executive function skills in the workplace

● If credentialed, provide supervision to graduate students from area universities. Complete midterm and final evaluations of progress while providing sequenced and leveled instruction for graduate students according to their abilities

● Document and complete progress monitoring for daily interventions using our data management system OTUS

● Work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team that involves UAS program staff and affiliated consultants from the fields of special education, occupational therapy, social work, behavioral therapy, agriculture and psychiatry

● Personalize programs, as much as possible for students who have employment outcomes as well as students who may graduate and require more programmatic support and scheduled activities

Required Skills and Experience

● Masters level clinical degree in a related healthcare field including speech-language pathology, occupational therapy, behavioral therapy or clinical mental health ( MSW, LPC, M.ED)

● Desire to work with individuals who have autism or related social and communication challenges

● Energetic, creative, socially active, and highly motivated individual interested in being part of a fast-paced, progressive organization

● Ability to use and navigate Google docs and email

● Exceptional spoken and written communication skills

● Valid Illinois driver’s license and ability to drive

● Must be able to pass a fingerprint and background checks

Schedule:

● Monday through Friday from 8 am to 4 pm or 9 am to 5 pm or depending on school schedules

● Occasional additional hours and attendance at special events required including but not limited to: annual attendance of at least two Sunday meet-ups at Pompei, one Urban Hike with Mike, 1212 Day, Carrots & Cocktails

Salary and Benefits:

● UAS will cover 100% of your health care benefits via our BCBS PPO (dental and vision is not provided).

● During this time you will also be eligible to participate in the UAS 401k plan.

● Salary commensurate with experience and high competitive.

● UAS offers two weeks of vacation time a year with some flexible scheduling during times of non-attendance for CPS students.

● Additionally, in 2022, UAS will be closed Tuesday, Nov. 22 - Nov. 27 and closed again Thursday, Dec. 22 - Jan. 1.
