Position:        Director of Development – Full-Time Position

Job Summary:
 

As the Director of Development, you are a master of fundraising with lots of creative ideas, a skilled communicator and a go-getter who will create a diversified financial portfolio for UAS. You will focus on growing our portfolio with an emphasis on individual and corporate donors and corporate partnerships as well as creating special events to generate revenue and awareness of UAS. You will be responsible for leading all development activities within the organization and will create and monitor a comprehensive fundraising plan to expand philanthropic support of the organization including identifying and strengthening relationships with community stakeholders, actively pursuing and managing corporate and individual leads, fostering strong donor and sponsor stewardship, and working closely with our grant writer to identify grant opportunities for funding. Additionally, you will be responsible for managing grants (monthly, quarterly and/or yearly as applicable). You will also be required to work with the Executive Director to create quarterly reports for the Board of Directors and other duties as assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities
 

  • Design and implement a comprehensive annual development plan that maintains the fiscal health of the organization and provides future financial resources for growth and expansion.

  • You will be responsible for grant management and fiscal reporting, corporate major giving, annual appeal development and management, third-party events, and internal events.

  • Develop strong relationships within the community to foster a positive image such that companies, schools, civic organizations and individuals will make UAS their local charity of choice for funding.

  • Act as the primary point of contact for funding, donations and fundraising event inquiries.

  • Collect, organize, and maintain a complete and accurate database record of donors and funding received.

  • Create funding targets for the Board of Directors.

  • Establish tracking tools and monitor monthly activities using our database (Kindful).

  • Work collaboratively with the executive director on creating fundraising events either in-person, online and/or virtual, including developing and managing production timeline, budget, and post-evaluation.

  • Work closely with the communications director on the creation of applicable materials and messaging, ensuring consistent use of logo and messaging across web, print materials, etc.

  • Attend networking events and meetings representing UAS (sometimes during non-traditional business hours).

  • Work with the entire UAS team as needed.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Knowledge

 

  • Excellent personal, verbal and written communication skills

  • Customer service, communication and record-keeping experience required

  • Able to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines

  • Affinity for working with marginalized populations and young adults with autism and/or related challenges

  • Solid organizational, time management and project management skills required

  • Passion for fundraising and for the UAS mission and services

  • Proven experience fostering and promoting business relationships and partnering within the community

  • Ability to quickly establish rapport, comfortable representing UAS and asking for large gifts

  • Strategic thinker, able to develop programs and create a strategic plan both short- and long-term

  • Good public speaking skills required

  • Experience with Kindful a plus

 

Qualifications
 

  • Must have a 4-year college degree

  • At least 5 - 7 years of experience, most recently in a related position

  • Minimum of 2 years of management experience

  • Solid knowledge of Google Drive and Google Suite as well as Microsoft Office

Salary: $75,000 – $85,000 based on experience.
