Position: Director of Development – Full-Time Position

Reports to:    Executive Director

Urban Autism Solutions is dedicated to changing outcomes for young adults with autism through an
integrated community life that advances social and vocational opportunities. Since our founding in 2012,
UAS has served more than 1,000 young adults and provides a multitude of social and vocational
opportunities for individuals through innovative, community-based programs, including our West Side
Transition Academy and our 1.2-acre Growing Solutions Farm. We are an agile and quickly growing
organization ready to strengthen our impact on the local community.
Urban Autism Solutions is looking to add a Director of Development to our organization.


Job Overview
The Director of Development leads all development activities within the organization and will create and
monitor a comprehensive fundraising plan to diversify funding, expand philanthropic support, and
increase awareness of the organization. The ideal candidate for this position is a self-driven, data-
focused, strategic thinker who is experienced with grant management, enjoys making connections, and
has a track record of non-profit development/fundraising success.

entrepreneurial spirit, and have an established local network of corporate, government, community,
and individual contacts that you are willing to leverage, as appropriate, to help UAS achieve its strategic
goals.


Job Details

  • Designs and implements a comprehensive Development Funding Plan and budget designed to

achieve growth

  • Researches opportunities to diversify funding sources and generates new partnerships

  • Increases financial support by developing solid relationships within the community with companies, schools, civic organizations, and individuals

  • Manages relationships with current donors and funding sources

  • Completes asks for financial gifts and in-kind donations

  • Works closely with team members to identify grant opportunities and leads grant management

and budgeting process

  • Acts as the primary point of contact for funding, donations, and fundraising event inquiries

  • Collects, organizes, and maintains a complete and accurate database record of donors and

funding received

  • Establishes tracking tools and uses the database to monitor revenue and monthly activities

  • Completes fiscal reporting

  • Attends and networks at various events, meetings, and organizations representing UAS

  • Works collaboratively with the executive director to achieve the organization’s goals

  • Ensures consistent branding in all organization materials

  • Partners with the entire UAS team as needed to achieve objectives and ensure program success

  • Performs other duties as assigned
     

Requirements

  • 5+ years of non-profit experience

  • Extensive experience and knowledge of non-profit development/fundraising, including grants,

strategic fundraising, donor relations, and events

  • Knowledge of grant writing and grant management (experience with government grants

preferred)

  • Management or leadership experience

  • Excellent personal, verbal, and written communication skills

  • Good public speaking skills

  • Proven experience forming and fostering relationships throughout the community

  • Willingness to ask for large gifts

  • Strategic thinker, able to develop short-and long-term strategic plans

  • Able to analyze data reports to determine the effectiveness

  • Affinity for working with marginalized populations and young adults with autism or related

challenges

  • Experience with Kindful or similar donor databases

  • Skilled use of Google Drive and Google Suite of Programs as well as Microsoft Office Products

  • Full-time, in-office position

  • Ability to attend events outside of business hours
