UAS West Side Transition Academy
UAS works with West Side Chicago Public High Schools to provide students with autism and related disabilities the chance to engage with the community and partake in job observations and internships. Additionally, students have the option to work with seasoned clinicians and graduate students in Speech and Language Pathology, Occupational Therapy and Social Work who provide services that are not otherwise readily available.
Within six months of opening the UAS West Side Transition Academy in 2019, our program more than doubled and demand continues to grow. Here, our team prepares students for life after high school and helps them develop communication skills, navigate public transportation, and utilize community resources such as the library. Additionally, we work with our students to set personalized goals, which empowers them to live life with confidence.
