Title:Communications Specialist / Part-Time, Hourly

The role of the Communications Specialist is to manage and improve internal and external communications. This position will help elevate awareness of Urban Autism Solutions (UAS) through social media, website content, blog posts, our quarterly newsletters, and donor communications. The position will work closely with our freelance graphic designer to create materials and to keep the website current and visually appealing.
You will help the organization to tell its story, build brand awareness and develop connections to our community, partners and donors. The ability to take knowledge and transform it into exciting and useful messages and disseminate it to the right audiences through the best distribution channel is critical.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Manage dissemination of our newsletter and other messages via Constant Contact (CSA, farmstands, meet ups, other)

Maintain and build contacts list in Constant Contact

Manage our general email account including responding to requests, questions and meet up registrations

Lead the generation of online content that engages and leads to measurable action and increased awareness of UAS

Develop content and social media calendar

Assist graphic designer with ideas for website, offering content ideas and suggestions;

Coordinate routine regular webpage maintenance—ensure that new and consistent information (article links, stories, and events) is posted

Utilize and manage the social media communication vehicles (Instagram, FB, LinkedIn, Twitter, and YouTube) to create momentum and awareness as well as to test the effectiveness of communications activities.

Take all photos and develop all graphic content (with help of graphic designer when needed) for social media posts and website

Manage the development, distribution, and maintenance of all print and electronic collateral including, but not limited to, newsletters, brochures, fliers

Work closely with print vendors/ graphic designer and others

Ability to edit and proof documents using AP Style; write correspondence as needed

Offer new ideas; be creative and think outside the box!

Other duties as assigned and administrative tasks
Qualifications:
-
Undergraduate degree and at least two years of experience working in a fast-paced environment, communications experience at a non-profit organization preferred

Highly collaborative style; experience developing and implementing communications

A strong track record as an implementer who thrives on managing a variety of key initiatives concurrently

Self-starter, able to work independently, and entrepreneurial; enjoys creating and implementing new initiatives

Knowledge of Canva a plus

Must - Expert level social media skills

Must - Intermediate skills using google suite of products and familiarity using MS products

Must - Excellent writing/editing and verbal communication skills, using AP Style

Must - Exceptional organizational skills
Physical presence at the UAS worksite or a physical presence in the field is an essential job function of this role which UAS deems critical to collaboration, innovation, productivity, employee well-being, and enhances company culture.
Candidate must be able to pass a criminal background check and have a valid driver’s license.
